Star Power again for Force India F1, fans missing !

Well i really admire Vijay Mallya for all he has done, he has literally brought formula one to India, bought a team and named it after India and so on. But i dont get one thing, why are actors only the guests present at grand prix fixtures ?

For once i would like fans to be present instead of actors and models to be present at various races of Force India and their names and faces in the Media images. If you are looking for a fan to fly to any grand prix, choose me Mr. Mallya 🙂

Take last week’s Singapore Grand Prix for example :

Leo Sayer was present !

Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan were present !

Even Shilpa Shetty was present !

Felipe Massa wins the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton penalised

Felipe Massa at 2008 Belgian Grand Prix

In what will come as a shocker to McLaren fans, Lewis Hamilton has been penalised for passing Kimi Raikkonen by passing a chicane by cutting it. It essentially places Lewis Hamilton at third place. The McLaren fans were shocked by the decision as it came after the race and celebrations.

Lewis Hamilton was penalised 25 seconds, a drive through penalty actually. The time was added to his time later on.

Kimi Raikkonen had led most of the race, but Lewis Hamilton in a controversial move cut across a chicane to overtake him. The move cost Lewis Hamilton dearly, Kimi Raikkonen while trying to pass Lewis Hamilton spun and went out of the race. But Felipe Massa was the ultimate gainer when Lewis Hamilton was penalised.

Now Lewis Hamilton leads Felipe Massa by only 2 points. Kimi Raikkonen on the other hand lost out on his great run at the Spa track in what would have been his 4th win although for different teams.

In the constructor’s championship , Ferrari lead McLaren by 12 points, McLaren is on 119, while Ferrari is on 131.

Nick Heidfeld who was being criticised a lot, was promoted to second place with Hamilton’s disqualification.

Force India formula one British GP Preview

leave a comment

The Force India formula one team talks about its home grand prix in their latest release. Every team member is enthusiastic about the race and their new aero package. Giancarlo Fisichella also talks about his horrible accident, he reckons, it looked worse that it was. Read the whole press release here :

1 July 2008 – The British Grand Prix later this week will mark the mid-point of Force India’s debut Formula One World Championship season. It’s an appropriate place for the team to reach this milestone given the Silverstone Circuit, where the race is held, is right opposite Force India’s HQ.

As such, the British Grand Prix is seen by many as the team’s ‘home’ race. Although preparations continue as normal, with the cars re-built at the factory and then taken on a transporter over to the circuit, it does make the event a special one for the team and their families.

Following a solid French Grand Prix Force India will be looking to move forward at Silverstone. At a three-day test at the same circuit last week, the team debuted a major new aero and mechanical package comprising new sidepods, bargeboards, diffuser, front wing, engine cover, inerter damper and further suspension modifications. With the developments looking positive, the team has every hope of an improved finish in the ninth round of the 18-round series.

Dr. Vijay Mallya, chairman and managing director
‘The British Grand Prix will be a special race for the Force India Formula One Team. With the history and heritage of this team and its location just opposite the main gates of the circuit, it’s obviously considered by the team as its home race.
‘In the past, when this team was Jordan Grand Prix, there was a real buzz whenever it came to Silverstone. The fans supported it, the media enjoyed it and the atmosphere in the factory was by all accounts electric. This team now really needs to remember those days and try and recapture some of the spirit. We’re moving forward, that’s for sure, and step by step improving, but I really want everyone to feel proud of where we are and what we have achieved. It’s this race in particular that really fires everyone up, let’s put this energy into a great performance in front of our ‘home’ crowd.’

Force India F1 launches online merchandise, forgets common fans

Well i was waiting for when Force India formula one would launch its online shop, wearing its colours would have been super cool. However the Vijay Mallya owned outfit has probably forgotten the common fan. It seems the merchandise is only for the elite few much like Mr. Mallya himself who routinely invites actors to his Force India pits but not fans.

The shop is being maintained by a Netherlands based company who has kept such exhortative rates that i cant even think of buying stuff from there, let alone buy it. I will not link to the shop from here as it basically makes a mockery of the team’s name and the common fan’s emotions.

The default pricing is in Euros, but you can see INR prices too, hotdog ! Anyway here are some sample prices :

  1. A cap costs Rs. 1895.57 , caps usually cost Rs.50-80 in India.
  2. A polo pique costs 3797 rupees , they usually cost Rs.500
  3. T-Shirts start from 2500 rupees, they cost 500 in India.

Add to all of this shipping of 15 euros 950 rupees approx., and what you have is unhappy fans. Most will now prefer to buy counterfeit shirts and merchandise 😉 .

I personally asked a few people about the prices, and they laughed their heads off, one of them said even EPL jerseys arent so expensive (dunno if its true).

The hottest party in Monaco was here : Indian Empress Yacht

one comment

Vijay Mallya is now one of the most sought after, the media keeps running for his interviews, Bernie keeps shaking his hands and even his rival teams talk to him cheerfully. What’s the reason you ask ?

Well you can see the photos of the Indian Empress Yacht below, the Yacht has now hosted the biggest bash of the Monaco Weekend 2 years in a row. Vijay Mallya believes in living life kingsize, and that is reflected by this luxurious Yacht.
