David Coulthard to honour Colin McRae

one comment

David Coulthard Helmet
Rally star Colin McRae died earlier this week in a helicopter crash. David Coulthard has meanwhile decided to wear a helmet in Colin Mcrae’s colours to honour him :

“I’ve had permission from the McRae family to race with Colin’s design on my helmet which I intend to do with pride,”

“I’ll ask other drivers to sign it and give it to the family as a memento.”

“The McRae family can keep the helmet or they may decide to give it to a foundation to raise funds.

“Either way I’m proud to wear the helmet, although I’m not sure I’ll be able to drive anywhere near as sideways as he would, but I’ll do my best.”

Kimi Raikkonen gets pole as Lewis Hamilton crashes heavily

Lewis Hamilton European Grand Prix

The qualifying was delayed as Lewis Hamilton crashed at the Schumacher ‘S'(becoming the first driver ever to crash his formula one car there) and struggled to recover and get out of his car. He was carried away injured on a stretcher. But there are some serious doubts about his race fitness for Sunday’s race. The news is that he might even miss the race on Sunday. If he is infact fit for the German/European Grand Prix then he will start in 10th place.

Lewis Hamilton Crash Stretcher European GP

Ron Dennis claimed the accident was caused due to a Wheel Gun failure, but went on to say that none of the mechanics were at fault for causing the crash.

“He has no pain, no broken bones and did not lose consciousness,” said Ron Dennis.

“We won’t decide for a couple of hours.”

“Effectively the wheel wasn’t properly put on, but that’s not the mechanic’s fault,”

“We are not quite sure what failed but in fact it was quite fortunate because the same gun was used on Fernando Alonso’s car and he hadn’t started to lean on it yet.

“We could tell from that it was a gun failure. At least we know we don’t have a problem with the car.”

Meanwhile the Iceman Flying Finn Kimi Raikkonen claimed the pole position. Kimi beat teammate Felipe Massa’s time in the final minute of the final session, and Alonso split the Ferraris later on. So the grid for tomorrow’s F1 race shall be :

Kimi shatters Lewis Hamilton’s dream of Silverstone Glory

leave a comment

Lewis Hamilton would not convert his pole position at Silverstone into a victory as Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen drove a good race to clinch the British Grand Prix. Felipe Massa had an unlucky race when his Ferrari stalled at the starting grid, he had to start from the pit lane as the other cars went ahead with another warm up lap. McLaren’s Fernando Alonso finished second. Ralf Schumacher again had an extremely unlucky race with him retiring on lap 22.

Here are comments by Kimi Raikkonen after winning the formula one British Grand Prix 2007

“We had a good car all weekend,” said Kimi Raikkonen. “At the beginning, I tried to save some fuel and look after car and tyres.

“Once we knew we had enough fuel I was able to close on Lewis and try to overtake him. But we knew he was coming in so didn’t take too much of a risk.

“It was a very nice feeling to win the race. We’ve been close here a few times but something has happened and we haven’t been able to win. Now, finally, we have done it and it’s one of the nicest races and feelings.

“Hopefully, the formula one championship is not over. It’s still going to be a long season.
