McLaren admits fault, all is left to decision of WMSC
McLaren has apologised to the FIA and admitted fault under article 151c of the formula one race regulations. Apparently the letter contains an apology from McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh.
It seems to be a ploy to reduce their final punishment , just like a prisoner’s sentence is reduced when he pleads guilty and show remorse, McLaren might be hoping for the same. This is the second time in the recent past after the Stepneygate scandal in 2007 that the McLaren team has been accused of brining formula one into disrepute.
The final decision will be taken by the WMSC who can fine the team, suspend the team from the season, or dock points etc.
Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton has denied rumours that he is considering leaving McLaren after the liar-gate scandal.
“I am not thinking about it. We have a goal, we have a target and we are working towards it without distractions. I’m enjoying myself and I don’t abandon my team when things get tough” Lewis Hamilton said
