They dont actually go that fast in the pit lane so slamming on the brakes would have been relatively easy. I think he saw that Ferrari and BMW had overtaken him in the pits, saw he was going to be stuck behind them on a lighter fuel load and decided to take his main contender out of the race with him. Then again, if he were really nasty, he could have crashed into both Ferrari and BMW and taken them all out.
