Formula One’s star rookie Lewis Hamilton has been in the news lately for 3 major reasons ::

Street Naming : The Stevenage Borough Council will name a street in Lewis Hamilton’s honour in his hometown of Hertfordshire.

“The success of Lewis has given everyone in Stevenage a real boost,”

“Everyone in the town is enormously proud of the fact that Lewis comes from Stevenage.

“In particular, our young people see him as a role model and his achievements have definitely raised their aspiration levels.

“He has really helped to put the town on the map.” Ms Sharon Taylor, town council leader, said.

Hamilton to leave Great Britain : And to celebrate this great honour the British people are giving him, he is relocating to Switzerland , to save on taxes as motorsport (formula one too) is not recognised there as a profession, so he will earn millions and still pay little taxes. He meanwhile said that it was a very tough decision :

“Over there people don’t come up to you, they leave you alone and give you space”

“I’m going to a country that I don’t know but it’s very exciting.”

“It was a tough decision. My dream for years was to move to London I stayed at a friend’s house this weekend in London and I woke up in the morning and just knew it was where I wanted to be,”

“But I’ll meet new people, new faces and I do have a few friends there and my family and friends from home will be able to come and visit me.” Lewis Hamilton said

The Championship : With McLaren’s appeal date set for November 15th 2007, he can still be the formula one world champion taking the crown for Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, he however has said that he would not want the title in this way.
