McLaren told to defend Espionage charges

FIA will be charging McLaren with the possession on Ferrari formula one team’s sensitive and confidential data. The data was earlier found at McLaren’s chief designer Mike Coughlan’s house. Ferrari employee Nigel Stepney is suspected to have handed over the documents to Mike Coughlan. The FIA called the information substantial and one which could be used to design, engineer, build, check, test, develop and/or run a 2007 Ferrari Formula One car.
Also its? being speculated , the Ferrari F1 has cut a deal with Mike Coughlan, under which Ferrari will stop legal proceedings against him in exchange for information on the mole in the Ferrari F1 team. te McLaren team made an official statement today :
“McLaren are extremely disappointed to note that they have been asked by the FIA to answer a charge of being in possession of certain documents and confidential information belonging to Ferrari.

“Whilst McLaren wish to continue their full co-operation with any investigation into this matter, they do wish to make it very clear that the documents and confidential information were only in the possession of one currently suspended employee on an unauthorised basis and no element of it has been used in relation to McLaren’s Formula One cars.”

This might have consequences for Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso also, its being speculated that their points may be docked if McLaren are found guilty.
