Kimi Raikkonen Rascassed in comedy of errors

Monaco Grand Prix 2007

It was an eventful qualifying session, the rain threatened to make the whole qualifying a poker game, but rain was not the only thing making the evening interesting. It seemed like a comedy of errors.

Kimi Raikkonen during the second qualifying session clipped a barrier and came to a standstill at the Rascasse corner , reminding some people of Michael Schumacher’s qualifying here last year. His car lay on the track diagonally ,Felipe Massa narrowly avoided hitting the Finn. Kimi at this point had two front wheels pointing in separate directions. Ferrari’s pit crew worked hard to repair the damage to kimi’s car but could do so till the end of the second session and Kimi was eliminated.

Fernando Alonso was seen been patted on the back by Michael Schumacher early in the session. He scored pole position. Lewis Hamilton who came 2nd blamed Mark Webber for not letting him pass and making him lose time. David Coulthard was demoted down the grid by 10 places for blocking Heiki Kovalainen during his hot lap. David blamed bad communication for the incident. The demotion came as a blessing in disguise for Jenson Button who was able to make it to the top 10 due to David Coulthard’s demotion. Jenson had earlier said that he would love to have a top ten start at Monaco (he lives at Monaco BTW)
