Monaco Grand Prix 2007 Preview
Its time we head to the glitzy and glamour filled locales of Monte Carlo for round 5 of the formula one 2007 season. Monaco is always the biggest race, where filmstars come, diamond companies advertise, people dress up as Star Wars characters, ice sculptures are made and Bernie shakes each driver’s hands.
So far , it seems that the prancing horse is having the edge even though they don’t lead any of the championship tables. Many teams and drivers (cough: Alonso, cough) are hinting that their lead is due to their long standing partnership with the sole tyre suppliers in Formula one – Bridgestone.
But the leader of our driver’s table is probably a boy, man who no one had expected to be on top, Lewis Hamilton, the Brit home hero, the rookie boy of formula one who has taken the world by storm. No f1 conversation is complete without a mention of this rookie boy wonder who is being hailed as the next big thing after Michael Schumacher.
Lewis was pretty excited about race prospects at Monaco
“I am really looking forward to Monaco – I have always run well there,” the
“It is one of the tracks I have always dreamed of racing at in F1, particularly having competed there for the past two seasons in the F3 Euroseries and GP2.
“For me it is the best circuit of the year. There is nowhere like it for getting the adrenaline going.
Last Year – Who can forget the Michael Schumacher tragedy last year, he stopped in the middle of the track allegedly to cheat and prevent Alonso from making a competitive qualifying lap. He was penalized, but I think it was Jean Todt who said “It sets a serious precedent that driver error is not possible” and I agreed (part of the reason being the huge Schumi fan I am).
Even after being demoted , he came fifth , the race was praised as one of its best.
