No More French Grand Prix from 2008 ?
Its almost official folks, what was the formula one French Grand Prix held every year at Magny Cours could be history pretty soon. Poor access to the Magny Cours circuit is being blamed as the key reason. The French Motorsports association announced the decision instead of the FIA, which is quite strange as most such decisions of formula one are announced by the FIA. The FIA will only announce the 2008 formula one calendar in October-November 2007.
Its also widely hoped that the Grand Prix would return to France again in 2009 but not neccasarily at the Magny Cours circuit. Its a well known fact that Bernie Ecclestone has always been very keen to have a formula one race in Paris.
The decision would come under review of the FFSA in their meeting scheduled to be held in July.
