Michelin to sue the FIA
In a development thats going to get a lot of tongues wagging, Michelin tyre company has announced that it has indeed initiated legal proceedings against the FIA. Well the reason is not purely F1, but has a link as we will see.
Michelin’s brand BFGoodrich is currently the main supplier for the World Rally Championship, when Michelin pulled out of F1 to protest against the 2008 F1 tyre rules, little did it realise that in an year it was going to lose another huge contract. So when Michelin lost the WRC contract to Pirelli, it decided to sue the FIA for irregularities? in the tender process.
FIA and Michelin have been in a state of conflict ever since the 2005 US Grand Prix, when Michelin’s tyres were deemed unsafe and only six cars raced (2 Ferraris, 2 Jordans and 2 Minardis) and a Jordan was on the podium with Tiago Monteiro spraying champagne like crazy.
