Heiki Kovalainen crashes Renault , Driver Error the cause
Heiki Kovalainen during testing in Bahrain totally destroyed the right side of his car in a high speed crash at the Sakhir circuit. Kovalinen smashed his car into a barrier.
“It was a pretty big accident,” “There was quite a lot of damage to the car but all the safety systems worked perfectly so I am fine.” Kovalainen said
“I may not be able to start again until Wednesday and that will delay our programme, which is frustrating.
“But the focus now is on working with the team to get the car ready as soon as possible.
“Once it is, I will be 100% concentrated on completing the rest of our work.
“We are already in a good position after running for three days last week. But there are still some important preparations to be completed before we get to Melbourne.”
Seems like everyone is just keen to take the place of Juan Pablo Montoya, who was a habitual crasher to say the least. Officially the crash was due to a driver error, eye witnesses said that the Finn lost control of his Renault R27 on the 20th lap and rammed into a barrier.
