Narain To Race in A1 Grand Prix
In a surprise move , it was announced that Ace Indian Driver Narain Karthikeyan will drive for the India A1GP team apart from fullfiling his duties as the Williams F1 team test driver as a one off thing. This is in great contrast to his earlier remarks that going to A1GP from formula one would be like going a step back in competitive racing. Narain Bags Tenth Place in Qualifying Narain secured tenth place on the grid at Taupo circuit in the A1GP. This is team India’s best ever starting spot in its controversial history in the A1GP which has been marred by sponsor disputes and problems. He overcame his first poor lap to make three stunning laps. Moreover he might just earn Team India its first ever championship points in Sprint Race if he can make up four grid places. Here is what Narain had to say
“I’m pleased with 10th. It’s a good start, and as I said at the beginning of the week, we are aiming to get some points, and I think we can do that this weekend.
”The team didn’t really have any data, because the previous drivers have been quite inexperienced, so we’ve been developing the whole package. We’ll take it one step at a time and build on what we’ve learnt today.
